The new HD Studio and Playout for TV2 News in Copenhagen is the culmination of over two years of work. It started with the decision to rebuild the 8 year old twentyfour hour news facility to new HD workflow. It started with fibre cable connectivity between all of the four floors of the waterfront building located in Copenhagen’s South Harbour. The first hardware installed was a SAM Snell Sirius 840 Router, followed by a new DK Technologies Dual GPS Sync System. With that core infrastructure in place, the second floor Studio Control Room and ground floor studio were built. The new studio is twice the size with room to hold 30 Journalists.
There are two redundant controls rooms each using the VIZ-RT Mosart News Room Automation System with control over a SAM Kahuna Video Mixer, Studer Vista 5 Audio Mixer, the EVS XT Video server and Viz-RT Graphics. The second Control Room is already prepared for use the soon to be rebuilt old studio. The New Studio has LED Rear screens that provide a seamless backdrop to the set with seven Sony HDC-P1 cameras using Telemetrics PTZ Robotics and Autoscript Prompters. Signal data is managed the LAWO VSM Virtual Studio Manager with custom applications that share data across the network, including two Grass Valley Kaleido KX Multiviewers. Other infrastructure hardware includes a new Grass Valley i-Control Server, GV video synchronizers, Directout Andiamo MADI Audio Converters and Clearcom Intercom. To manage the extensive Viz-RT Graphics Network, a large Guntermann & Drunck DVI Center Matrix was installed with support for high resolution DVI signals, cross display switching and Wacom Tables.
Over the lengthy two year project, Danmon Systems participated with the installation and documentation. Some of the hardware installed was delivered freeissue by TV2 and some was part of a turnkey delivery with installation and commissioning. The new Studio was officially On Air on the First of February 2016. Plans are now underway to rebuild the old News Studio on the second floor to support a proposed new Business Channel.
